Argos Index Stores Case Study
Client/industry sector
Instrom’s client is a well-known high street retailer that has outlets in every major town and
city throughout the UK and Ireland.
Background
In May 2005 this major retailer acquired 33 high street stores. They had to change the
branding internally and externally at each location and review the current security
arrangements and make recommendations for change. This was a fast-tracked project and
Instrom were awarded it because they already had knowledge of this client’s premises and
security requirements.
Detail
Instrom visited each site and undertook a risk assessment and an audit of the existing
security systems, making recommendations for change as appropriate. Once the risk
assessment and audit were complete Instrom prepared a detailed security systems and
equipment plan for each store which was implemented to ensure protection of people,
premises and profit. The recommendations made by Instrom were reported in a detailed
document submitted to the client for discussion and implementation at other stores as
required.
Instrom’s role in this project was to provide independent security advice as well as project
manage the implementation of the recommendations made by Instrom at each location.
Conclusion
This project commenced in May 2005 and completed in August 2005 with 33 stores
refurbished and open to the public, with new or updated security systems and equipment
recommended by Instrom and agreed with their client.
