Client/industry sector
Instrom was appointed to carry-out a key project for the world’s largest commercial security printer and papermaker, which produces over 150 national currencies and security documents such as, passports, fiscal stamps, travellers cheques and authentication labels as well as providing cash handling equipment and software solutions to banks and retailers worldwide.
Background
In October 2006 Instrom was instructed to undertake a full security survey of the buildings and grounds of its client, with a view to procuring a new intruder detection system that would fully integrate with the current system and be flexible enough to be extended as required in the future.
Detail
Instrom undertook the detailed survey and submitted a comprehensive report giving recommendations for the design of a new system to integrate with the old system. In agreement with the client Instrom produced a full specification and scope of works document and invited security contractors to tender for the installation work. Instrom analysed the completed tender documents and made recommendations to the client, who was then able to select a contractor to carry out the installation of a new system.
Throughout this project Instrom had to ensure that the contractors tendering for the work were able to agree to complete confidentiality, due to the sensitive nature of the business of printing banknotes and other high security documents.
Once the contractor was appointed Instrom project managed the installation work, again ensuring that the contractor completed the work to the highest standard.
Conclusion
This project commenced in November 2006 and completed a year later in November 2007 to the full satisfaction of the client. Throughout the project Instrom worked as part of the client’s team, working closely with their security managers and the Director responsible for the procurement and implementation of the new intruder detection system.
